Co-oping For Cowards:
A Cross Cultural Cruise by
Pat Wesolowski and Karin Carpenter. This 10-chapter unit study lets you
jump into co-oping with both feet. (also easily adaptable for one family)
Based on the books of Patricia Polacco, each multi-disciplined chapter
includes pre-planned lessons in Bible, Character, Language Arts, History,
Geography, Science, Fine Arts, Crafts, Spelling and much more. A suggested
list of report topics is also included. The Appendix provides reproducible
maps, timelines, sample newsletter and much more to let you and your friends
have a wonderful homeschooling cruise into the cultures of more than 10
other countries.
The
Authors:Veteran Homeschooling mother of nine, Pat Wesolowski
shares her experience — that getting kids excited about learning,
then teaching them how to research, organize and prepare information makes
home schooling "real" and much less stressful. Her Information,
Please! book series has helped countless homeschooling
families conquer a variety of research skills. But, according to Pat,
preparing students to speak boldly in public is the real joy of co-oping.
A frequent public speaker herself at homeschool conventions and support
groups around the country, Pat credits her co-op experience with preparing
her daughter to earn college scholarship money at a state speaking contest.
Pat has published more than a dozen books, including Big Ideas
Small Budget, Inventors, Inventions, & Entrepreneurs:
A Research-Based Unit Study and Civil War: A Unit
Study.
Karin
Carpenter is an "almost" second generation home school
mother of four. Her mother home schooled her youngest brother back in
the days when folks asked, "Is that legal?" A graduate of Bryan
College wtih a degree in English/Secondary Education, she has taught math,
Bible, and, of course, English, on the junior high, high school and college
level. She also teaches a home school writing seminar designed for a mother/student
team titled, "Get It Together: The Research Paper."
It is coming out shortly in book format.

"I
was the typical home schooling mom who used curriculum and structure
to muddle through my day. I read Co-oping For Cowards hoping to
find a way to make our co-op better. I found so much more than
that! The authors are brilliant. Co-oping For Cowards is written
so that anyone can understand and follow the directions. Now,
not only is my co-op going to be easier, but my home school life
in general will be easier. I am so excited for the new school
year to begin. I feel that my children will not only be learning
more this yer but will have more fun learning." — Cindy
